Simple Fall Family Portraits | St. Louis Family Photographer

Just like other industries, Missouri family portrait photographers have a high demand season… and that season is FALL! But no matter the time of year, my job is to make the process of family portraits as stress free as possible - that goes from booking, to wardrobe, to location. While handing over beautiful images to clients after it is all said and done. Right now, I want to focus on location and how important it is to trust a photographer’s eye.

I have photographed this sweet family since the oldest was a newborn… that’s a pretty long time and I’m incredibly grateful for it. Sometimes my repeat clients do not want to photograph in the same space twice which (first of all I love because I LOVE to mix things up but) I totally understand. However there are other clients that do not mind repeating locations as long as their pictures turn out fabulous. My point being, do NOT stress out about location. There are certain areas and parks in our fabulous city that I could photograph the same family in back-to-back-to-back sessions but just in different “spots” within an area - and you would never know they were taken within walking distant of each other.

This family chose Forest Park for their location last fall. We’ve photographed there 2-3 times before because it is quite large and its also an easy place for them to drive to with young children in tow. I’ve built a lot of trust with this particular family so I didn’t pick out the location within the park right away and they were totally okay with that. I simply said, “I will location scout before you arrive so just plan on meet me at “x” parking lot and we will go from there.” And here you have it. Simply, beautiful and uncomplicated fall portraits.
